Dr. Maggie Xiaomeng Lan is an assistant professor in the Division of Humanities & Social Sciences at BNU-HKBU United International College. She holds a B.A. in English education from Taiyuan Normal University, an M.A. and a Ph.D. in mass communication from the University of Florida.
Maggie’s research interests include the role and effect of public relations in the public sphere, media relations, organizational identity, and technology-mediated engagement. Her work has appeared in refereed journals including Journal of Public Relations Research, Chinese Journal of Communication, Journal of Public Interest Communications, Public Relations Journal, Journal of Public Diplomacy, and Communication Research Reports. She also coauthored a book chapter on media relations and one on public relations in the COVID-19 pandemic. Maggie’s paper on fake news in the business world won the Page Center Ethics Award from the Public Relations Society of America Educators Academy in 2018.
Maggie began his professional career as a journalist and editor at China Times, a Beijing-based financial and economic newspaper, writing and editing articles on international business, world news, and global markets.
