Dr. Jackie Yeoh is an Assistant Professor in the ELLS Programme at UIC and teaches English as a World Language, English for Specific Purposes and Contrastive Error Analysis. She graduated with a PhD in Applied Linguistics awarded by Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. Her doctoral research focused on the analysis of authentic email communication between professionals at work in New Zealand and Malaysia. She is also a professionally certified corporate trainer with the Department for Training & Education, South Australia (DETAFE) and the Malaysian Human Resource Department. Before joining UIC, she taught Business Communication, Academic English for Second Language Learners and Writing English courses in New Zealand. Her main interests include pragmatics, workplace discourse and Language for Specific Purposes.
